Pokémon Theme Singer Denies Scamming Kids Over Gengar Card, Drops AI Diss Track
Jason Paige, the vocalist millions of Pokémon fans know for his performance of the original anime’s theme song, responded after being accused of ripping off young fans in a Pokémon card trade at the Orlando-based Collect-a-Con event, calling the exchange "absolutely fair." The allegation came from Pokémon card vendor and content creator Bryan Kuznitz, who goes by Boosters and Bangers Collectibles.
Kuznitz’s claim centered on an alleged underhanded trade in which Paige swapped an old Gengar card for what was called a "fake" autographed card. Paige denied the allegation in a response video, saying the card in question is a promo from AGS featuring Charizard and Pikachu and the company’s logo on the back.
He showed an autograph price list and said that, after accounting for the signature, inscription, grading and shipping, the card would be worth "around $150," while he estimated the Gengar’s condition and lack of grading put its value closer to $75. "The instinct to protect the kid is the right instinct," he said.
