Spider-Man's recent storylines have sent him through mystic fights, death and resurrection, a space odyssey, and other strange turns — and now his life has been rocked by a new family revelation. In Amazing Spider-Man vol. 7 #31, written by Joe Kelly and drawn by Patrick Gleason, a man named Cormac Crane appears at May Parker's door claiming to be her long-lost son.

The thread to Cormac began in the Death Spiral crossover, when the serial killer Torment, who can detect genetic connections, identified a seemingly random New Yorker as Spider-Man's first cousin. After Spider-Man rescued him, Cormac underwent genetic screening and tracked down May Parker.

May told her side: about 15 years before Ben and May took Peter in, they tried to have children but May's poor health complicated matters. She gave birth to a son who was taken to the hospital's neonatal unit and whom she never saw again.
