Partly AI-created hit excluded from Sweden’s official music chart
A hit single has been excluded from Sweden’s official chart after the “artist” behind it was revealed to be AI-generated. I Know, You’re Not Mine (Jag Vet, Du Är Inte Min) by a singer called Jacub, which topped Spotify’s rankings in Sweden, has been removed from Sverigetopplistan, the chart compiled by IFPI Sweden.
An IFPI Sweden spokesperson said the track appears on Spotify’s own charts but "does not qualify for inclusion on the official chart under the current rules." IFPI Sweden chief executive Ludvig Werber said: "Our rule is that if it is a song that is mainly AI-generated, it does not have the right to be on the top list." The acoustic guitar-led folk-pop song has been streamed more than 5m times globally, including 200,000 plays in Sweden, and is part of a six-track EP called Kärleken är Bränd.
IFPI Sweden acted after investigative journalist Emanuel Karlsten revealed the song was registered to Danish music publisher Stellar and that two of the credited rights holders worked in the company’s AI department. Karlsten wrote: "What emerges is a picture of a music publisher that wants to experiment with new music and new kinds of artists.
