Pandemic Legacy: Season 0 ends trilogy with Cold War spy campaign
Pandemic Legacy: Season 0 is the third and final installment in the Pandemic Legacy series, sending players back to 1962 to play CIA agents working to uncover plans for a new bio-weapon developed by rogue elements of the Soviet intelligence services.
Unlike earlier entries that had players treating diseases as plastic cubes, Season 0 replaces those with miniature plastic spies and sets board locations to Allied, Soviet, or neutral alignments. As enemy agents, players face movement restrictions into Soviet territory and must work around them by establishing teams of local agents represented by plastic miniatures that resemble VW vans.
The game’s objectives lean into spycraft: locating enemy assets, infiltrating secret Soviet facilities, and conducting high-stakes manhunt missions in which a target—such as a defector or double agent—moves toward Soviet strongholds while players try to cut off escape routes. Those chases produce tense moments when a quarry can slip away just as players close in.
Season 0 preserves Pandemic Legacy’s campaign structure and irreversible changes across sessions while shifting the theme and mechanics to evoke Cold War espionage, marking a distinctive end to the series’ narrative arc.
