Obey the Fist has posted 19,838 reviews on Steam, identity unknown
According to Polygon, a Steam account known as Obey the Fist has published 19,838 reviews on Valve’s platform, most of them lengthy and negative, while the person or people behind the profile remain unknown.
The account’s pinned manifesto says the reviews are meant to fight low-effort games “slapped together” with stock assets, and even argues “Most people will agree 90% of anything is crud.” Obey the Fist has a reputation for disliking 2D and indie titles, often criticizing games made in Godot, though the profile does highlight a positive review for Hollow Knight. Developers who tried to learn more say the account has no public footprint and that any probing is met with accusations of stalking; Danielle Pond told reporters she suspects “this person is a failed indie developer.”
Observers and developers also question how the account produces such volume: some suspect a bot or AI assistance after finding repeated phrases and mixed results from AI checkers. Fifteen days into 2026, SteamDB recorded 493 games published on Valve’s storefront, and many small developers say any review draws attention—some treat an Obey the Fist critique as a badge of notoriety, while others find the account’s approach baffling. The account’s identity, methods, and motives remain unresolved.
