People reports that Mickey Rourke said in an Instagram video on Monday, Jan. 5, that he had no knowledge of a $100,000 GoFundMe launched on his behalf to help prevent eviction from his Los Angeles home and that he “wouldn’t ask for no f------ charity.”

Last month the 73-year-old actor was served a notice to pay $59,100 in back rent or vacate the property within three days, and the crowdfunding drive was started to “help cover immediate housing-related expenses.” The campaign was created by a woman named Liya-Joelle Jones, who described herself as an assistant to Rourke’s manager Kimberly Hines and said it was “created with Mickey’s full permission.” Rourke called the fundraiser “embarrassing,” urged donors to get their money back, said he plans to speak to his lawyer and that he had borrowed money from a friend after a rental setback. The drive had raised more than $95,000 as of Monday evening.

The house is described on a listing as a three-bedroom, 1,600-square-foot home, and a complaint says Rourke signed the lease in March 2025 at $5,200 monthly, later increased to $7,000; the landlord, Eric Goldie, is also seeking attorney fees and the “forfeiture” of the rental agreement. The outlet has reached out to Jones, Hines and GoFundMe for comment, and Rourke says he plans to go back to work and is doing fine for now.
