The G305 X Superlight refreshes Logitech's egg-shaped G305 with an upgraded Hero sensor, a translucent RGB strip and a slightly altered look. It arrives at a higher price—around $80—so it has to justify that premium in an increasingly crowded market. At 59 grams the mouse feels pleasantly light and its rounded shape is comfortable, especially for smaller hands.

The shell is sturdy, the DPI switch is easy to reach, and a small compartment on the base stores the 2.4 GHz receiver. Tiny visible screws on the bottom make battery access and simple repairs easier than on many rivals. The Hero sensor delivers up to 44,000 DPI and responsive tracking, with support for up to 8,000 Hz polling if you buy the optional receiver.

In play it handles shooters well, with satisfying clicks and few double-click problems. The skates, however, catch and produce a noticeable scratching sound that can be distracting; aftermarket feet will help, but needing to replace them on a new mouse is unfortunate.
