Gamesradar reports that Dawn of War 4 is being developed by King Art (developers of Iron Harvest) and aims to deliver "gameplay that feels authentic to the fantasy of each faction" in the Warhammer 40k universe, creative director Jan Theysen said, calling the task "a great honor and privilege" and "a huge responsibility." Theysen outlined distinct faction playstyles: Blood Ravens Space Marines focus on unit flexibility and strategic positioning because they "struggle to field large armies"; the Adeptus Mechanicus use a Noosphere Network and Augur Vision to boost units and scout, with large interconnected bases enabling powerful vehicles but fragile infantry; Orks lean on overwhelming numbers and can "easily sweep opponents away in an unstoppable green tide"; and Necrons field slow, hardy units that regain HP over time and benefit from a Power Matrix terrain effect.

The piece also notes unique off-map stratagems, balance adjustments between campaign and multiplayer, and that Necrons are weakest early but gain teleportation later in matches. The team says it is streamlining systems to avoid reliance on micromanagement or "twitch reactions": Space Marine buildings will be deployed fully formed from orbit rather than built by workers, units can be upgraded for more modular control, and the focus is on long-term strategy.
