Justin Bieber's appearances and influence on The Voice since 2012
Nbc reports that Justin Bieber has been a recurring performer and influential song choice on The Voice since 2012.
He first performed on the show during the Season 2 live finale in May 2012, singing 'Boyfriend' from his album Believe; afterward he told Extra, 'That was my first time performing it so yeah that was crazy. I’m a little sweaty but that felt nice. It felt great,' and added, 'There were some dance moves I missed, but it was great. Other people don’t know that.' Billboard wrote that he had 'a grown-up swagger to accompany his more mature lyrics.'
Bieber returned for the Season 9 finale in December 2015 with a piano-centered rendition of 'Sorry' and pre-recorded performances of 'Peaches' and 'Hold On' for the Season 20 finale in May 2021, filmed with laser lights and vintage cars.
His songs have been frequently chosen by contestants: examples cited include 2013 Team Usher artist Vedo covering 'Boyfriend'; 2021 performances of 'Hold On' by Jeremy Rosado and Jershika Maple; 2022 appearances of 'Peaches' and a 4-Chair Turn for Grace Bello with 'Ghost', as well as covers of 'As Long As You Love Me' and 'Anyone'; 2023 Katie Beth Forakis' 'Ghost' prompted Coach Niall Horan to say, 'I honestly didn’t even know I could have hairs on my cheeks,' and in 2024 RLETTO sang 'STAY' by The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber for a Knockout — and there's 'surely more to come!'
