Invite Cece and Viché and unlock Splatoon items in Animal Crossing 3.0

Polygon reports the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0 update lets players invite Splatoon-inspired villagers Cece and Viché and unlock Splatoon-themed items by scanning specific amiibo. To invite Cece (updated to look like Shiver) and Viché (updated to look like Frye), scan the listed amiibo at the Nook Stop machine in Resident Services after you have built a campsite; this brings them to your island as campers, and after they appear several times and you complete any requests they have they will accept an invitation if you have an open villager slot (you can have up to 10 villagers).

The Splatoon amiibo list is uneven because the many color variations of Inkling amiibo give Viché more options than Cece. Cece is a female peppy villager and Viché is a female normal villager; both originally appeared in Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome Amiibo and were previously styled like Callie and Marie.

To unlock Splatoon items, scan any of the listed Splatoon amiibo at the Nook Stop and order them from the Nook Shopping app under the "Promotion" tab. If you don’t have amiibo, a friend who has unlocked the items can mail them by choosing "Send as Gift" (not "Place Order") so long as both players have Nintendo Switch Online, or a friend can physically drop the items on your island.
