Idris Elba is back as Sam Nelson in Hijack season two, which shifts the action from the plane of the first series to an underground train on the Berlin metro.

The review recalled the first series, from summer 2023, as seven "effortlessly bingeable" hours that supposedly showed events in real time. In that outing Sam, a business negotiator rather than a cop or pilot, deduced complex situations from misplaced washbags, sent coded messages via fruit cartons and dying men’s phones, and helped get "Kingdom Flight 29" landed by Holly Aird; the antagonists were revealed as a crime syndicate seeking to short the airline’s shares.

Season two opens with Sam heading to a meeting with a German government figure, noticing a man with a red rucksack and being accosted by an enthusiastic employee, Mei Tan (Jasmine Bayes), before a cast of mouthy students, a claustrophobic called George (Paddy Holland), a nervous driver named Otto and others become involved. Above ground, Marsha (Christine Adams) watches from the Highlands and Clara (Lisa Vicari) works in the metro control room; the reviewer noted the return of Archie Panjabi, Max Beesley and Toby Jones from the original outing.

The reviewer declined to reveal further plot details to avoid spoilers but said the new series promises "another rollicking ride" and suggested that once viewers tune in they will be likely to watch through to the end.
