I caught up with Framework CEO Nirav Patel at Computex and got my hands on the new Framework 13 Pro for the first time. While we'll have to wait a little longer for a review sample to arrive, my first impression is that it's everything you'd want a premium Framework 13 to be.

Patel calls the laptop 'the MacBook Pro for Linux users,' and the comparison makes more sense after using it. The device is aimed at software developers—particularly those growing frustrated with the Mac operating system—rather than gamers. Framework has nailed the premium chassis with new black anodised aluminium surrounds; the 13 Pro feels solid, sturdy and serious, much like a MacBook or the Razer Blade.

The company hasn't given up repairability or compatibility—you could fit this shell around any Framework 13 device from the past five years or so. One key change is the haptic touchpad, designed so MacBook users can touch any part of the trackpad to actuate a click and make the move away from macOS smoother.
