Harry, Meghan and children may scrap UK visit after security denied
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may cancel a planned trip to the United Kingdom after being denied taxpayer-funded security. Plans to see family, friends and visit various charitable causes were pulled out from under their feet at the 11th hour. The duke is still looking at every option to bring Markle and their children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, to England safely and to keep them secure on the ground.
He is described as distraught and unwilling to put the children through being chased by paparazzi from the moment they step off the plane. The visit was intended to include time with their cancer-stricken grandfather, King Charles III. An operational note circulated that the family would travel with accepted royal accommodation, but that decision was reversed within 24 hours.
Harry lost security privileges in 2020 after he and Markle resigned from royal duties and has refrained from traveling to England because he does not feel safe, while continuing to appeal the decision.
