Hands-on with Warhammer 40K Armageddon — the push to go all in
Breaking open a launch box for Warhammer 40K Armageddon feels like setting up a shiny next-gen console: a fresh start, torn packaging and that heady ‘new’ smell. I spent a few days building the armies and poring over the rules, and whether you’re experienced, new or somewhere between, you’ll likely walk away satisfied.
The miniatures are push-fit and remarkably straightforward, which makes this a good entry point if you’ve never assembled a Space Marine before. The Vanguard Veteran leader with Jump Pack is a notable exception, with pieces that refuse to go together nicely, but most kits are quick to construct — I think both armies could be finished in an afternoon if you’re pushing.
The design team has still managed to make the troops look fluid and energetic, thanks to an initially baffling but clever way the parts fit together; it’s like madness and sorcery, and this is Games Workshop showing off.
