Halo: Campaign Evolved on PS5 Requires Two PS Plus Accounts for Split-Screen
Halo: Campaign Evolved will come to PlayStation 5, but the remake appears to require both split-screen players to have PlayStation Plus and be linked to Microsoft accounts even for offline missions. That detail comes from a Halo Waypoint community Q&A published June 19 by Halo Studios senior community manager John Junyszek, which sets out platform rules separately.
The Q&A lays out different requirements for each platform. On Xbox Series X|S, split-screen play needs the second player to have a unique Microsoft account, and online co-op requires an active Xbox Game Pass subscription. On PlayStation 5, both accounts must have PlayStation Plus and be linked to a Microsoft account, with those subscriptions also providing access to online co-op.
Steam players will need to link to a Microsoft account. The game preservation account Does It Play criticized the setup as "DOUBLE ONLINE DRM even for couch co-op," adding that players used to move saves with a thumb drive.
