George R.R. Martin offered notable updates on the long-delayed The Winds of Winter — saying he "could finish" the book and indicating it will include Jon Snow chapters, Movieweb reports.

In a recent interview with THR, Martin said he began writing two new Dunk and Egg novellas in 2025, one set in Winterfell and one set in the Riverlands, and that showrunner Ira Parker said Martin provided outlines for 10–12 Dunk and Egg stories. He described shifting between chapters as he writes and noted a Jon Snow chapter had emerged during that process; the piece says whether that was a slip-up or confirmation of Jon's resurrection in the novels is unclear.

Martin also signaled tonal differences from the HBO series: he said he does not "see a happy ending for Tyrion," and that he originally planned for Sansa to die but reconsidered after her portrayal on the show. He compared his situation to Frank Herbert, called the upcoming sequel the "curse of his life," and said finishing the books remains a source of stress and uncertainty.

What comes next is not fixed: Martin said he "could" finish The Winds of Winter, but the interview did not provide a completion timeline and noted he continues to juggle multiple projects.
