Funcom will add a singleplayer mode to Dune: Awakening on September 22. Earlier, director Joel Bylos said he didn’t really consider the survival sandbox an MMO, and the new mode gives players a way to experience the game alone. The update includes the final chapter of Book One so you can play the story from start to finish solo, on a private server with friends, or on larger multiplayer servers.

Players could already largely avoid interaction—private servers exist and the world often shows others without forcing cooperation—but griefing in non‑PvP areas kept singleplayer high on the request list. Singleplayer offers three preset difficulty levels or full manual customization, letting you tweak experience gain, enemy toughness, harvesting speed and other settings.

The Deep Desert is fully available and the map will not reset; bases there will no longer be wiped weekly.
