Fox buys Roku streaming service for $22 billion
Fox Corp. announced it plans to buy the Roku streaming service in a deal valued at $22 billion. The company agreed to a $160-per-share transaction paid in a combination of cash and Fox Class A common stock, giving Roku a $22 billion enterprise value and an expected close in the first half of the 2027 calendar year.
Roku currently has over 100 million viewers and is one of the largest streaming platforms. The companies said they are committed to continue operating Roku as an open, partner-friendly platform and to maintain ubiquitous distribution of Fox content, including news, sports, and entertainment.
Roku founder, chairman and CEO Anthony Wood will retain an ongoing role with the team and will hold a seat on Fox's board after the transaction. The deal represents another significant shift in the streaming landscape as both companies and viewers watch for what comes next.
