First Blood Trilogy Arrives on Peacock Ahead of New Prequel
The Sylvester Stallone-led Rambo trilogy from the 1980s has arrived on Peacock, with the original First Blood joining its sequels. Based on the novel by David Morrell, First Blood hit theaters in 1982, runs 93 minutes, was produced for around $18 million and went on to earn about $125 million worldwide.
Stallone plays John J. Rambo, a disenfranchised Vietnam War veteran who travels to find an army buddy only to learn he died from the effects of Agent Orange. His search takes him to the small town of Hope, Washington, where Sheriff Will Teasle arrests and mistreats him; Rambo escapes and wages a one-man war on those hunting him.
First Blood helped reshape the action genre by introducing a wounded, PTSD-suffering hero rather than a purely macho avenger, and its influence can be felt in later
