Premiere of The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins introduces disgraced star and director
Episode 1 of The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins premiered Sunday, January 18 at 10/9c on Nbc, introducing disgraced NFL star Reggie Dinkins (Tracy Morgan) and disgraced filmmaker Arthur Tobin (Daniel Radcliffe).
The premiere sets up a partnership in which Reggie hires Arthur to make a film about his life to regain respect after an embarrassing scandal in 2005, when Reggie mistakenly called into a live news program and revealed he had been betting on his own gameplay, a mistake that led to a lifetime ban. Arthur is presented as an Oscar-winning documentarian (A Rose for Joshua) who tanked a later superhero movie after a public breakdown on the CGI-heavy set of Professor Squeeze in the Monoverse. Monica (Erika Alexander), Reggie’s ex-wife, agent and manager, is the pragmatic force trying to keep the project moving while the men bicker over whether to make a movie or a documentary; the show’s humor comes from Robert Carlock, Tina Fey and producer Sam Means.
New episodes air Sundays at 10/9c and stream next day on Peacock, and the series will follow whether Reggie and Arthur can own up to their mistakes and make the film work.
