Emilia Clarke's Peacock series Ponies posts 96% Tomatometer rating
Movieweb reports Emilia Clarke's new Peacock series Ponies holds a 96% Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes as of Jan. 21, making it the highest-rated TV series of her career.
Ponies, released Jan. 15, stars Clarke as Beatrice "Bea" Grant and Haley Lu Richardson as Twila Hasbeck, two secretaries at the US embassy in Moscow who become CIA agents after the untimely and suspicious deaths of their husbands. The show also has a 79% Popcornmeter score and, according to the report, had been deemed "rotten" by only one reviewer. Reviews cited in the piece praise Clarke's rapport with Richardson and their onscreen platonic chemistry; the article also notes Clarke's other top Rotten Tomatoes film scores, including The Night Before Christmas in Wonderland (80%), The Amazing Maurice (73%), and Solo: A Star Wars Story (69%), and that Game of Thrones has an 89% Tomatometer rating.
All eight episodes of Ponies are available to stream on Peacock, and while there has already been talk of a second season, that has not been confirmed. The series' status as Clarke's highest-rated TV project on Rotten Tomatoes is presented as current as of Jan. 21.
