According to MovieWeb, Michael P. Shawver, the editor of Ryan Coogler’s 2025 vampire film Sinners, said there have been conversations about a possible sequel though Coogler "doesn't want a sequel." Shawver made the remarks while at the Critics Choice Awards, where he was nominated for Best Film Editing and lost to F1.

Shawver said he has "pitched him in about five or six of them, and every one is interesting," and suggested one route would be to explore "different eras." He discussed a possible prequel that would tell the twins’ lives in Chicago before they arrive in Clarksdale, and mentioned going back to the 1920s as one option, noting the film combines vampires, blues and historical context such as post-slavery economic conditions.

No sequel or prequel has been announced by Coogler or Warner Bros., and Sinners remains a standalone film for now. The film has early awards momentum and strong box office performance: it won four of 17 Critics Choice nominations and earned seven Golden Globe nominations, including Best Screenplay, Best Director and Best Motion Picture Drama, while Oscar nominations have not yet been announced.
