Dungeons & Dragons arrives in Fortnite as five creator-made islands
Polygon reports that Wizards of the Coast has brought Dungeons & Dragons to Fortnite through five new creator-made islands revealed by Wizards on Tuesday. The islands were developed with community creators Chartis and Teravision Games, who are known for community-made games Zombie: Escape Tag and Havoc Hotel.
In a press release, Wizards of the Coast said the islands are "designed as part of a 'launch and learn' initiative to explore how D&D can connect with a diverse range of Fortnite players in fun and meaningful ways." The five islands include a social hub, a PvP arena, a co-op boss fight and a co-op roguelike that Wizards calls the largest in Fortnite history.
Dungeons & Dragons franchise strategy director Nick Strann said in a release, "We're bringing the spirit of D&D homebrew to Fortnite — supporting creators, experimenting in new mediums, and learning how we can introduce D&D to new players. D&D already means so much to all those who have joined us at the table, and we hope that we can make it just as meaningful for millions of Fortnite fans.
