At 9pm on BBC Four the new drama Blackshore stars Lisa Dwan as DS Fia Lucey, an Irish detective temporarily seconded from Dublin to her rural home town and put on the case of a missing woman.

According to the programme preview, Lucey immediately ruffles feathers on her return and, as in many police dramas, has personal demons from the past that might be linked to the investigation.

Other highlights noted for the evening include the rebooted Gladiators on BBC One at 5.45pm, returning for a third series with a new event; Michael McIntyre’s Big Show at 6.45pm on BBC One; and Channel 4’s Valley of the Kings: Secret Tomb Revealed at 7.30pm, which in its concluding episode focuses on the excavation of KV11, Pharaoh Ramses III’s tomb.

Later listings include Heated Rivalry on Sky Atlantic at 9pm and Waiting for the Out on BBC One at 9.20pm, plus live sport: Man United v Man City at 11am on Sky Sports Main Event, Nottingham Forest v Arsenal at 4.30pm on TNT Sports 1, The Masters snooker semi-final at 1pm on BBC One, and the Australian Open from 12.30am on TNT Sports 1.
