Disney+’s 8-Part Sci-Fi Adventure United a Divided Fanbase

The Star Wars franchise has struggled to find its footing on television, with some Disney+ originals feeling muddled by sprawling connections and others better suited to a different format. While shows such as The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Book of Boba Fett, The Acolyte and Ahsoka have had mixed results, Andor proved that the universe can support a darker, more political drama aimed at an older audience.

Into that uneven landscape came Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, an unabashed space opera that deliberately echoes the ’80s kid-venture films and aims for broad accessibility despite its youthful cast. Skeleton Crew is set in the same era as The Mandalorian on the backwater planet of At Attin, a place that has remained relatively isolated from the Galactic Civil War.

When the space pirate Jod Na Nawood (Jude Law) arrives, local youths Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers), Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), KB (Kyriana Kratter) and Neel (Robert Timothy Smith) are swept into a planet-hopping search for gold.
