Death of a Bachelor marked Brendon Urie’s solo era for Panic! At The Disco
According to Collider, on January 15, 2016, Panic! At The Disco released Death of a Bachelor, a record that marked the transition of the band into essentially a solo project with frontman Brendon Urie as its sole official member. The album arrived a decade after the bands 2005 debut and was presented as a moment of reinvention that reshaped the act into a singular vision.
Urie wrote and recorded the album largely by himself with collaborators and chose to continue under the Panic! At The Disco name rather than disband. He told EW in 2016: "It was never a sudden decision that I would be solo 6 it really happened over time. [But] every time that we had a lineup change or anything like that, I was always in the same mindset: I never wanted to leave this group.
I always had the same passion, I always wanted to continue. The name Panic! symbolizes everything that Ive worked for. Its given me fans and the chance to travel worldwide and care about something that I created." Death of a Bachelor received generally positive feedback and was commercially successful: it debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, Panic!'s first-ever chart-topper, and earned a nomination at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards for Best Rock Album.
