After years of shrinking usage and tumbling stock prices, Bumble says it is getting rid of the swipe and introducing an AI assistant called "Bee" to foster deeper connections. Bee is billed as a tool to punch up profiles—suggesting better photos and blurbs—and to talk with users about their dating preferences to help them find others with similar "values." Consumer tech firms face pressure from investors and consultants to integrate AI quickly, but clumsy implementation can alienate users.

Early experiments have produced dubious outcomes: Rizz, an app that promises to help users woo partners with AI-generated responses, has attracted reviews from people claiming the tool helped them fool unsuspecting partners. When Tinder rolled out an AI-powered "game" in 2025, a Washington Post test showed the system steering players toward different flirting strategies and reproducing whatever strange or unfair dynamics it found in its training data.
