Crimson Desert goes gold and will launch on March 19
Pcgamer reports that Pearl Abyss has announced in a Steam news post that Crimson Desert has gone gold and will launch on March 19.
Five and a half years after its 2020 Game Awards reveal the game has remained something of a mystery. Pearl Abyss has promised a dense collection of mechanics and playstyles, citing everything from sword, spear and axe combat to bows, kung fu, pro-wrestling grapples, combat geomancy, artillery summons, stealth kills, shrine-like puzzles, mining and cooking, gliding with an animate shadow cloak, triple-jumping with lightning and nature magics, a cubespace portal for dimension traversal, Spider-Man-style wristcord swinging, riding horses, bears and dragons, and piloting a dwarven combat mech armed with heatseeking cluster missiles, among other features.
Pearl Abyss said the game's primary development is complete and distribution-ready, aside from possible day-one patch tweaks. Whether Crimson Desert can coherently combine its many systems will be judged when it arrives in March.
