Avatar: Fire and Ash Tops Disney+ in Under 24 Hours
Avatar: Fire and Ash — or Avatar 3 — reached No. 1 on Disney+ less than 24 hours after its streaming debut on June 24, 2026, sitting atop both the U.S. and global charts. It climbed ahead of major titles such as the Toy Story movies, which saw a resurgence after the recent premiere of Toy Story 5; Avatar: The Way of Water appears at #9 worldwide while 2009's Avatar is #8 on the U.S.
charts. The film premiered on digital streaming for rent or purchase in March 2026 and then, the piece notes, took more than six months to arrive on the subscription-based service. 20th Century Studios handled worldwide distribution, and the release followed James Cameron’s effort to keep films in theaters for as long as possible.
Box-office returns for the third entry were lower: Avatar: Fire and Ash grossed under $1.5 billion, and Disney felt that it underperformed. By comparison, the first Avatar earned $2.9 billion worldwide and Avatar: The Way of Water grossed $2.3 billion.
