Agatha Christie Fans Should Try The Invisible Guest's Locked-Room Puzzle
If you enjoy Agatha Christie’s twists, The Invisible Guest is worth a look. Directed by Oriol Paulo, it opens with businessman Adrian Doria discovered in a sealed hotel room beside the dead body of his lover, Laura Vidal. Defense attorney Virginia Goodman arrives to dismantle his story and the film quickly becomes a tense cat-and-mouse game.
The plot hinges on a fatal car accident. Adrian and Laura hit a young man, then cover it up, hiding the victim’s car and body in a lake. A local engineer, Tomas Garrido, later offers to repair the damaged vehicle and is revealed to be the victim’s father. The narrative is assembled from flashbacks, shifting perspectives, and deliberate red herrings.
Morality is constantly in flux. The couple’s affair and their decisions after the crash drag others into their web of deceit, and even Goodman uses psychological traps to coax the truth out of Adrian. Each revelation forces viewers to rethink who is lying and why.
