AC Milan eye Sebastian Kehl to support Ruben Amorim project
AC Milan have identified former Borussia Dortmund chief Sebastian Kehl as a leading candidate to shape the club’s sporting structure under new manager Ruben Amorim. The decision follows a disappointing campaign and the departure of the previous sporting leadership, prompting Milan to move quickly to align the boardroom with Amorim’s tactical vision.
The search shifted to Kehl after an unsuccessful attempt to recruit Markus Krosche from Eintracht Frankfurt. Kehl, now a free agent after his long-term association with Dortmund ended earlier this year, is viewed favourably for having overseen a recruitment system in Germany known for identifying and developing elite talent.
A proposed move to Tottenham Hotspur collapsed after Kehl and Spurs could not agree on the club’s strategic direction, leaving him available for a switch to Italy. Milan owner Gerry Cardinale is keen to build a high-performance environment for Amorim, seeking a director who can work in harmony with the manager’s specific requirements for the first-team squad.
