A$AP Rocky says his mother urged him to date Rihanna

According to Pagesix, A$AP Rocky said his mother Renee Black told him to date Rihanna long before they became romantic partners and parents.

Rocky told Thursday’s episode of The New York Times’ “Popcast” that his mother would say, “I know you like this girl that you [are] with right now — I ain’t gon’ say no names — but I want you with RiRi,” and he recalled asking, “Ma, why you keep saying that? That girl don’t even want me like that.” He added, “Mothers know best,” said he was thankful Rihanna entered his life when she did, and called her “always my boo.” He also noted they were longtime friends for nearly a decade before making things romantic in 2020 and that both are 37.

The couple are parents to three children — sons RZA Athelston, 3, and Riot Rose, 2, and 4-month-old daughter Rocki Irish — and earlier this week Rihanna commented “Wait! So I’m not crazy then? Bet!” under a post about getting pregnant in 2026, a hint she may be open to a fourth child.
